VPN Network File Access Issues

We connect to our VPN with a SonicWALL VPN client. We can not access
out shared files using a UNC path but we can access them using an IP
Address path. We have no problem accessing the same files locally using
the UNC path. What would cause this issue?

Sounds like name resolution issue. Do you have WINS server? It is better to setup WINS for the name resolution over VPN. These search results may help,
