Can't view network shares over VPN

I've seen this question asked a few times, but none of the answers work for me.

I have about 50 sales people on the road and recently in the last 2 weeks 3
of them cannot connect to network shares over the vpn. They can access
perfectly when connected to the network.

They can check e-mail and ping network servers succesfully.

Nothing on the network has changed. Windows firewall is turned off. Our
outside sales people connect with IP address and not UNC to shares. All
others are able to connect to the network shares with no problem.

Any suggestions?

We need more information to help. Assuming they can ping the remote server, what's the system code if using net use \\remoteserverip?

We have the exact same problem. The server can be pinged. Exchange is
still accessible. Offline files works perfectly.

The only hint I have seen is that machines (accessing our network) that are
not domain workstations have no problems. My laptop is a domain machine and
has full access when logged onto the domain locally. Offsite, no server
shares are visible. Only the offline file folder names appear when I type:
\\servername
