VPN DNS Issue

Hi,

I've seen this posted several times on various groups but I'm still
not getting anywhere, hopefully someone here will be able to help.

I have a Windows XP Pro laptop connecting to a Windows 2003 Server
running a VPN over ADSL (and also tried over a 56k dial up
connection.).

The VPN connection connects and logs in ok, we are using a Netgear
DG834 router (latest firmware), and communication is fine. It's just
this DNS issue has got me stumped.

Whichever way I connect, when I run NSLOOKUP the default server is
always the DNS server address of the primary connection, not the VPN
connection. This obviously means I cannot resolve names on the VPN.

I've tried setting up the IP of the VPN DNS as the default for the VPN
connection, but it makes no difference at all.

Could anyone help me with this problem as it's driving me mad.

Thanks

Jo

It should be whatever DNS server you have set up on the internal interface
of the Windows 2003 VPN server assuming the server supplies the settings. At
least that's the way it works in Win2K. What are those settings?
