VPN disconnects after 3 - 6 minutes

Hi,

I am running XP SP2 and MSRA v4 with a USB ActivKey connecting to a
corporate VPN running on a Compaq nc2400 dual core laptop. I have the latest
ActivIdentity drivers. My Activkey works fine in my old laptop and I can
connect all day with that machine.

I can connect to the VPN work Ok but then it disconnects after 3 - 6
minutes. The company support desk tell me they can see me connected in the DB
and see no problems.

When it disconnects it is as though it is a normal user inititiated
disconnect because it does not reload and try to reconnect. If I disconnect
my LAN cable then it automatically initiates a re connnect as it should.

I have looked in the event vieiwer and other admin files and there seems to
be no eroor messages at all.

I have disabled the firewall (Sygate) and the anti virus (Symantec) but it
makes no difference. I disabled the dual core in the BIOS no difference.

Any ideas?

I forgot to add it is irrelevant where I try to connect from either on
another service providers network. Within a corporate LAN, from another
location.

Via a docking station or not.

Thanks.

It could be the MTU issue. This search result may help,

VPN connection is disconnected after several minutesVPN connection is disconnected after several minutes. We have been seeing more and more cases like this one. We don’t really know the causes, ...

Thanks Bob,

I finally found the problem. The new HP laptops in the bios have a LAN/WLAN
switiching facility. Disabling this seems to have done the trick. When
enabled it appears to poll or something similar between LAN/WLAN there is
very short time gap between them and that is when the connection is lost.

Disable = Allows both LAN and WLAN to be active at the same time.
Enable = Allows only one of the features to be active at the same time.
Allows WLAN only when no LAN link is available (no cable).

Any way all sorted thanks for your reply.
