VPN connection stalls retrieving information from MS Xchg Server

I connect to corporate email through VPN from home. Worked fine up until a
week ago. Constantly get messages stating, "Outlook is retrieving data from
the Microsoft Exchange Server "(server address)". You can cancel the request
or minimize this message to the Windows taskbar until Outlook closes the
message automatically". This had been a VERY rare occurence until a few days
ago. The only thing I have done to my home PC is to run Windows Washer
(w/bleach) on it. Could this have had an effect? Any suggestions for
correcting? It takes me 1/2 hour to read/reply to one email. Thank you.

Is your Email Mailbox reaching capacity or getting large in size? This was
an issue I saw on a client machine that was remedied by reducing the size of
the mailbox... any issue like this will be magnified over VPN

CJZ, Thank you for taking the time to reply. My mailbox is maintained on the
server and isn't near maximum capacity. If I reboot my PC and restart the
VPN & Outlook, it will act normally for a few minutes before once again going
into the delay mode with the pop-up "retrieving info" message. My corporate
help desk even walked me through building another profile and changing the
time before server times out from 30 seconds to 120 seconds...this also had
no affect. Bueller...Bueller...anyone...anyone?! :)

My experience in a large organization was that we didn't support Outlook
connecting to Exchange over the VPN... Clients instead used 'Outlook Web
Access' ... it might be the option you require in your situation as well...
