Old server

Hi,
I upgraded my network about 2 years ago from NT 4 to 2003, I went from
Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2003.
My issue is I have a user who is using Windows 2000 Pro with Outlook 2002 in
this new domain, when they forward an attachment from somebody they receive
a requesting data from the Exchange server window. The problem is it's
looking to the old server fs1 instead of fs3. Everything works fine and they
can email all day long.
The message is:
Outlook is retrieving data from the Microsoft Exchange Server "PARISHFS1".
You can cancel the request or minimize this message to the taskbar until
Outlook is done".
Parishfs1 is no longer here and it hasn't been. If I let this go the email
gets sent but the attachment is not. So they receive the email but not the
attachment.

I hope I've given enough info,

Thanks Craig

Hi Craig,

To troubleshoot this issue, use the Microsoft Exchange Server Performance
Troubleshooting Analyzer Tool (ExPTA). To download this tool, visit the
following Microsoft Web site:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=55884

If the Cancel Request dialog box appears frequently or for extended
periods, follow these steps.

# 1 Gather troubleshooting information
# 2 Review the event logs of the Exchange Server computer
# 3 Turn off the Planner Options feature
# 4 Turn off Instant Messaging integration in Outlook
# 5 Troubleshoot Outlook profiles
# 6 Turn off third-party add-ins in Outlook
# 7 Troubleshoot performance issues
# 8 Troubleshoot network issues
# 9 Change RPC dialog box pop-up behavior

For the detailed troubleshoot information, refer to this KB article:

839862 How to troubleshoot the RPC Cancel Request dialog box in Outlook
2003 or in Outlook 2002

If you do not have time to try all methods, you should try this:

Create a new profile
==============

A new profile is a new environment for users to use Outlook. To create a
new profile is only for a test to see if the problem is related to the
corrupt profile of Outlook. Creating a new profile will not do any damage
to the old profile. Please refer to the following article to create a new
profile in Outlook.

===============

Another cause is that this may also due to corrupt Server Rule which
referenced Public Folders on old Exchange 5.5 Server - Public Folder Home
Server. The Rule would attempt to execute upon opening the Outlook client,
but would be unable to locate the Public Folder listed on the non-existent
Public Folder Home Server. Since the Public Folder was no longer available,
the Rule would turn off.

To resolve this situation, delete Rule to the old Public Folder located on
the Exchange 5.5 Public Folder Home Server.

Meanwhile, usually we handle such issue in the following public newsgroups:

microsoft.public.exchange.connectivity
microsoft.public.exchange.clients

If my suggestions do not work, maybe you can get an answer there.

Hope this helps!
