VPN Access

I

Ian

I have set up a Certificate Authority on our server to
limit access to trusted personell. I have requested and
installed a certificate on my remote workstation.

I setup the RRAS policy to use certificates. I have also
set up the advanced security options on my client to use
the certificate.

When I try to connect, I get Error 691: Access was denied
because the username and/or password was invalid on the
domain.

If I connect in the conventional manner, it works fine

What am I doing wrong?

I've found out what the problem is..

The Event Log on the server says that I have tried to
connect with the credentials I logged into my remote pc
with, rather than the crendentials I specified in the dial-
up connection.

I ticked the options to prompt for a user name and
password but the prompt doesn't appear, presumably because
I am using a certificate. So my login credentials appear
to have been transmitted instead.

So what now?

OK so i've found now that the name on the certificate
needs to be name that server expects to authenticate when
I login remotely. So now I have issued a new certificate
with the correct name.

Instead of getting an authentication error. It now just
sits there trying until a timeout occurs. I can only think
that the server is waiting for a password to be supplied.

Hello!! is anybody there?
