| why is it that this "expensive video card" is not supported by xp?
| there are numerous beta drivers by 3rd party builders but it seems none have been developped to
| make this card compatible while running under XP.
|
| apart from reverting to an earlier OS (or buying a new card) is there a solution information
| page other then the inadequate 3dfx drivers site?
|
| any inf. would be extremely appreciated
| thanks

Because the expensive video card's vendors did not make drivers available.
Drivers in XP are provided by equipment manufacturers, not Microsoft.

Because the "expensive video card" manufacturer is "out of business" and has
been for years. So who do you think should develop the drivers?

Not to mention that 3DFX (voodoo's maker) was bought out by Nvidia a few
years back. Nvidia made the decision not to support the voodoo line under
WinXP.

Thats right! I thought I remembered someone buying them and canning them but
wasn't sure and certainly didn't remember who.

Haven't time atm, to re-check each url, but there are plenty of 3dfx drivers
out there.

Thanks for the prompt relpies
I guess my solution is goping to be **** XP
it works fine in win98

the lates beta 10 3rd party drivers for voodoo5 XP
was not even aloud to continue loading by XP OS.

i did read all about 3dfx being unsupported a month after buying the friggin thing
and for the price i paid it's gonna be a ****ing long tmie before i change it
especially when it works fine in older Win OS.

anyone want to buy my new XP OS??
it's for sale NOW
or the nearest garbage can

| nVidia bought 3DFX (Voodoo) 3 years ago. Voodoo is dead, gone, buried.
| Since there's no company, that means no employees to write drivers for XP.

i totlally understand your frustration
you won't be the first person to revert to an older version of Windows
that will allow your cards to work as intended
