Volumn control won't stay

After installing speakers on a friends system I tried to
turn up the volumn on the computer and the bar slowly
slides back down to the bottom as soon as you release it.
All diagnostics show the sound card is o.k. Plays fine at
the low volumn.
Any ideas on how to turn it up.

Hi Randy,

I saw a similar problem 5 or 6 years ago on a Win95 and it ended up that a second mixer was loading and it had priority. I would
try to change it with the Windows mixer but the mixer that cam with the Reveal sound card would supersede the Windows mixer.
