Volume levels won't stick

I'm having the oddest trouble. I have w2k installed on an
old Dell laptop. I can't get my volume levels
to "stick." Everytime I increase the volume, it slowly
slides down (on its own) until it's basically muted. It
gets very irritating trying to listen to anything. Has
anyone else expereinced this sort of issue and found work
arounds for it? I noticed it after I plugged it into a
docking station, though I'm not sure if that was the cause
or not. Docking station or without, I'm still having the
troubles now though. Thanks so much!

Have you found a solution to this, yet? I have the same problems with
Dell Latitude CPx that I have in a docking station, but just like you
have the same problem outside of the dock, too.

Help!

Look for an updated driver for the sound card from dell's website or
