Volume in drive D: error message

When I try to click on an web address sent through an email an error message
pops up stating : "The wrong volume is in the drive. Please insert volume
NEW into drive D:" I have the option of hitting "Cancel", "Try Again", or
"Continue". When I hit "Continue" a few times it takes me to the site -
sometimes the page does not download, though. D: drive is for my DVDs, CDs,
etc. Any idea why this is happening all of a sudden or what I can do?

I'd expect those web addresses to download viruses or other malware in
such a case. Are you sure you trust whoever that email came from enough
to avoid this, and also trust the email to have come from that person
instead of someone who has been able to fake the return address?

Looks like time to run your antivirus program at least once, and do the
same with at least one antispyware program.

Try this:
Open the Default Programs applet, which you can access either from
the Start menu or via the Control Panel, then click the first item:
"Set your default programs."
After a few seconds, a list of programs comes up. Click on "Internet
Explorer". If it doesn't respond with "This program has all its defaults"
then fix it by clicking on the option indicated by the first green arrow.

This did not work...already stating "this program has all its defaults". It
happens with every email that I try to open a link for.......have had
computer for 6 months, didn't change anything that I know of and now doing
for no reason! Thanks for your response and if you can think of anything
else please let me know!
Thanks,
Christine

Which version of IE are you using?

Have you installed any new software recently?

Have you done a full scan with your AV Application?

Download and run http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Get this, update it and run a full scan, remove all it finds.

No solution, just need some more info.

Try resetting Internet Explorer: Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, Reset.

Are you using AVG, or another AV Application to scan your Mail?
