Volume Control Question

I'm not really computer smart, so I apologize if the terms
I use are not correct.

For some reason, the volume control button, & other
programs once on the taskbar, are no longer available on
my task bar. I went to fix this problem in the Taskbar &
Start Menu part of the Control Panel, but for some reason,
they are listed as Past Items, rather than Current Items.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Maybe a way to set up
exactly what I want opened on the taskbar when my computer
starts?

You should be able to bring the volume control back if you
go to control panel -> Sound and Audio Devices. There's a
checkbox that says "place volume icon in the taskbar".
That could have been unchecked, I hope this helps.
