volume control and mic input

Hi,

It seems that my volume-control ini/config file or registry setting was
corrupted on my dell latitude X1. (winxp/home/sp2)

I used to have mic volume/mute on both playback *and* record. After using my
vonage v-phone, the mic output is now missing. Having local audio monitor
during skype/vonage calls is something I really need. (Yes, I looked at the
checkboxes under advanced, but the options are not there.) I tried
reinstalling the audio driver, but was unable to change it back to its
former appearance. This leads me to believe that it's a registry function
that's been corrupted.

Question: Where is this config file? If it is a registry entry, what is the
entry? Any help or ideas would be *greatly* appreciated!!

Thanks,

-- Phil

This was sent to me directly - I'm posting it here for others. Apparently I
never did have mic input - but just a vivid imagination.

To enable this, you need to edit the registry.

"disablemicfromplayback" shows a 01 value. Change it to 00.
"disablemicselect" shows a 01 value. Change it to 00.

Once you are in regedit, use f3 and just cut and past the above lines to
search. I think both entries actually appear in the registry twice so be
sure to hit f3 a couple of times until the search is complete for both
registry lines

Thanks!
