VoIP - Impossible to change default device for sound

I have bought a "Topcom Butler 4012 USB VoIP" to use as a cordless "head set"
with Skype. After installing the software the default device for sound
playback and recording changed to the new USB phone. The result was that the
phone is working as it should, but all other sound also comes to the phone.
The speakers is quiet.

It seems impossible to change the default device in "Sound and Audio Devices
Properties". I can choose my regular sound card (Sound Blaster Live! Value)
and press ok/apply, but there is no change in where the sound goes and when I
check again the default device is back to the phone.

I have re-installed the software and also checked that the sound card work
properly if the phone driver is removed. As a temporary half good solution I
have at least got the music to play in the computer's speakers by manually
change to the sound card in Winamp. But I could not do the same with
ZoomPlayer, so the sound in movies is still not working.

I use Windows XP SP2. Help is appreciated...

Se below:

"I HAVE THE SOLUTION !!!

Finally !!!!!! And so simple.....

It was Registry problem....
Nothing to do with hardware.
So if System sounds don't work here is the solution....

Get K-Lite Codec Pack 2.69 Standard
h**p://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm

Install Package and then go to

**/K-Lite Codec Pack/Configuration/ and Run "Codec Tweak Tool"
tick "Fixes / [ Registry ] Fix Non-working system sound "
Run tool...

AND ..... system sounds are back.........."
