Voice chat problems

Brother in another state & I can chat via keyboard. His mic works & he can
record sound & replay it. He can hear me on voice chat & sees meter. I
can't hear him or see meter move when he talks.

What should we check? Must be something simple.

Solved the problem by installing Yahoo Messenger, now voice chat works as
expe3cted, no settings to change, no wizards needed.
