Voice call difficulties

When setting up a voice call using messenger from my
machine running XP to a laptop running ME. I can hear the
other party but they can't hear me. Xp machine on
broadband laptop on dial up. Ocassional burst where
laptop end can hear me. Any ideas?
 
My friend and I often have the same problem, I am on ME and they are on XP...the only way we have been able to get around it is by taking turns sending each other the audio invitation. Sometimes we click on the first time - other times it takes 3 or 4 attempts. The other thing is that you might both try re-running the audio wizzard and see if that helps. Good Luck
