VOB->MPEG: thank you to all, but I still need help

Hi,

thank you for your help about conversion from DVD VOB files to
HardDisk.

Now I have these VOB files on HardDisk, but I'm not able to convert
these damn VOB into simple video movies (MPG, for example). My final
aim is to cut certain parts and trash all the rest, having just only a
relatively small single MPG or AVI or windows video file. What
freeware program should I use???

It's only sort-of "freeware"... but if you just want to work with the
one movie you have now... download a trial-copy of VideoReDo at
<http://www.drdsystems.com/VideoReDo/index.htm>. It will put the VOBs
together and let you edit/trim them as one MPG movie without taking
hours to do.

Yes and no. You can download and try the current version for free.
I'm not really sure what the limitations are on it (time or size). I
spent a lot of time trying to find a completely free program. Even
after buying VRD, I still kept my eyes open. It's been more than a
year and I still haven't found a free one that worked.

VirtualDubMod should work: it can open .VOB files..

What I do is change the extension from VOB to MPG and it works.
