VM - Page File problem

I have new PC running XP Pro with 1Gb memory.

I am running many applications at the same time. When the Commit Charge (K)
Total memory (in Windows Task Manager) reaches the size of the VM file, I
cannot open any other application without first closing a running one to
release memory. At the beginniong my VM was 400Mb - so it was the limit. Now
it is 750Mb and this is the current limit. The VM file is fixd size file.

The Commit Charge (K) Limit is 1.7Gb and the Phisical Available is still
260Mb.

When I increased the Page file to 1Gb there was no change. I still cannot
run a new application when the memory exceeds 750-800 Mb.

I have my old PIII PC with 512 Mb and 1Gb VM and I still can run many more
applications and never had this problem.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Check my post for commit charge. I suspect that you are having the same problem that I was having.
Check to see if you have cidaemon.exe running in your processes. If you do your computer is slow because the indexing program that is supposed top be running in the background is using all of your system memory.
If you see this program running go to start/search and change your preferences and turn OFF indexing.

No, that program is not running and indexing is off!
