VIsual Themes revert to old theme

I downloaded a vista visual theme and I applied it patching my system etc. but when I turn off my computer and turn it back on or any other time when I turn my PC on the theme is applied but after a few seconds it reverts to the regular vista theme. Does anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it? Thanks in advance :)
