Visual Studio 2005, Compact Framework 2.0 & Windows CE.NET 4.2

Can somebody please confirm my suspicion; I have been presented with a
Windows CE.NET 4.2 device (not PocketPC) and have been asked to develop an
application using Vusiau Studio 2005 and Compact Framework 2.0 - I cannot
find any compatibility between this as there only seems to be support for
CF2 on PocketPC/2003 and CE.NET 5

I have also tried loading the compact framework installers onto the device
and this fails with both versions!

Am I missing something, or are my findings correct?

As far as i remember there still is microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer
group

However Visual studio 2005 connects with Pocket PC automaticaly.
What i mean is that is't enought to create application of the specific type,
and click deploy button.
VS loads all necesesary framework components on Pocket PC itself.

(basically it isn't supported but it will be in SP1 which should be
released in the first half of this year).

HI,

IIRC it's not supported, go to
microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.compactframework and post it there, you
may get a better answer

As others have mentioned, that's not a supported combination. Since VS 2005
isn't going to work well with the device, even after the update to allow 2.0
applications to run comes out (that's an update to the framework, *not* to
VS 2005), I think that you'd be better off using .NET CF 1.0SP3 and VS.NET
2003 for this development. What's the reason that your 'customer' is being
*so* specific about what tools and libraries to use?
