ok i only got my new vista on monday 11th feb 08 and in only two days i have
found out some of the disks that you get with the computer can't be installed
and till you have the internet up and runnig so this ment half the program i
wanted to put on my computer i couldn't and when i found out it didn't have
word only wordpad and paint for a £719.00 laptop i was outraged the laidy
said that it had lots of different applicaction and that was a lie because my
daugther has to use it for her coursework.
At least they could do it put all the document on it insted of having to pay
out anthore £100 pound to get spell check, power point, excel, front page and
word

So you expected to get MS Office for free? No version of Windows has
ever been shipped with MS Office included, so why would you think
Vista would be different? You should have checked out what what
included in the laptop bundle before shelling so much.

If you need to have a free office suite, you could download oppenoffice.org
or the Lotus Symphony suite from IBM. Both of them will work on Vista.

There's also Star Office which has a few more bells and whistles
than does OpenOffice. It can now be had for free through the
Google Pack. Users can pick what they want included in the
google pack download.

I haven't tried Star Office in quite awhile. I prefer Microsoft Office,
so I cannot say for sure how well Star Office works with Vista.

Or simply download OpenOffice.org and install. Or sign up for the free
Ubuntu CD - I assume it still comes with MS version of OpenOffice ready
to install.

Neither the Microsoft Office application suite, nor any of its
individual component applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access,
Outlook, etc.), nor Microsoft Works, have _ever_ been "part" of *any*
Windows operating system. They are, and always have been, separate
applications, that must be purchased and installed separately.

Microsoft Office or Works comes pre-installed on new computers only
when the computer manufacturer chooses to offer it, and the purchaser is
willing to pay extra for it.
