Vista/XP LAN networking problem

Alright I am trying to LAN my computers for file sharing and gaming through
my Linksys (Model #BEFSR41) ethernet router. One is running Vista Home
Premium and one is running XP Home edition. Both are desktops. I've been
working on this for about a month and so far, no go. A few days ago I
installed on my XP the Link-Layer Topology Discover (LLTD) Responder from
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922120. It showed my Vista computer on it
until I restarted the computer. Now its not showing and I've reinstalled the
LLTD many times and theres no change. Both computers are in the same
workgroup with the same account name neither account has a password. When I
go to the Network and Sharing center on the Vista this is the map I get:

Can anyone help? This seems like a huge problem for alot of people.

Nevermind, got it fixed. all I had to do was create an account on both
computers with the same name and password.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. Creating the same username on both computers fixes many issues.

So i noticed. Kinda annoys me that I went through so much to fix it though
when it was that simple..but hey people, give this a try. Also, I'm not sure
if it helped but at the same time I disabled IpV6 on the Vista. So yeah..best
of luck to you all and God Bless.

Hi

I have same setup and same router

The LLTD is only so that the vista map will see the XP machine
nothing else

mine was sorted by network magic
which has a free 30 day trial

http://www.networkmagic.com/download/

it has also sorted others on here

you will need to install in both computers and run the variuos stages
from both

chers for now
