Vista WiFi connection Problem on New Laptop

I am not sure where I should be posting this message,
if I am in the wrong place can someone give me details
of the correct place to post.


A band new laptop I bought refuses to connect to my home WiFi network.

WiFi Router:
Thompson speedtouch 580 ADSL

laptop that works:
ACER using WPS-PSK, TKIP, windows XP

laptop that doesn't work:
Fujitus Siemans Esprimo, Vista Home Basic
WPA-Personal, TKIP (I assume this is the same as WPS-PSK!!!)
Turned off Vista's Firewall
No Anti-Virus installed

The Vista PC (the one that refuses to connect to the WiFi network)
has updated it self (via a ethernet cable plugged into the router)
I can access the Internet if I plug the cable in.
Just the WiFi connection that is causing problems.

It claims the network key is incorrect.

I don't know if/how I can get the network key out of the router - but I
am sure the one I have written down is correct)

I know I am typing it correctly. I know it is case sensitive.

I have ticked the show characters box to see the security key.

I have it written down and have used it on 3 other PCs on my network.
(one Win 2000, two XP systems)

I am NOT broadcasting the SSID from the router so I manually entered
it into the Vista configuration screen,
I selected WPA-Personal, TKIP,
and entered my key

but no connection

I have rebooted a few time and powered down/up the router.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Let me guess: unlike your older computers, it came with Windows Vista?

Yup.

All you need to diagnose this problem is

laptop that works:
windows XP
laptop that doesn't work:
Vista Home Basic
