Yes, I am on this group because I use Vista too; I am ambivalent about
Vista, and my acronym seems more accurate to describe Vista than "Visual
Interface Similar To Apple". Ubuntu Beryl looks like this too.
If I may explain, FWIW.
The issues we all lament is driven by an emphasis on Security, which is
laudable, but creates the incompatibility.
Is 'very' justified? only if you turn on User Account Controls.
I agree the 'application' seems off, but nothing I could think of with an
'A' in it. Sorry!
I have 17/20 ported apps working, but all are critical to work so what do
I do now?
Citrix client, even new beta doesn't work properly, this cuts me off from
my home office 100%; fax programs, shareware released this _week_ fixed
this issue, that I now must buy. Scanmaster 98 works well on XP not on
Vista, so now I buy a new scanner? Ah, I bought the wrong edition of
Vista maybe. But all this worked on XP Home, but not now.
I have Vista Basic because of a new laptop and I'm fine with it as Vista
caused the store to discount Vista Basic laptops heavily $600->300, with
rebates etc.,] so I win on this, and I still have my XP box.
Vista Basic has full implementation of Parental Controls, Win Mobility,
Remote Access, partial of Tablet PC? [ useless on a laptop], and a
crippled version of Meeting Space, Backup/Restore.
Per this page from uSoft, it does not.
