vista ultimate 64bit driver for nvidia 8600M

Hi,
I have an Acer 5920G with nvidia 8600M GT

However, i am not able to install the vista 64 bit driver from nvidia
website.

Could someone please help?

Try the drivers from the Acer website. Report back if you have the same

The driver from Acer is for 32 bit platform only. The installation reports
that the driver is only for 32 bit platform
My 5920G has a dual boot options to run either 32 bit or 64 bit vista. So
far, it is running at the standard vga driver.

Peter,

Right click Computer (formerly My Computer) and select Properties. The
window that opens displays, under System Type, the version of Vista that's
installed. That's the bit version of the display driver that you should
install. Report back on results.

The driver from Acer installed flawlessly on the 32-bit OS but failed to
install on the 64-bit OS. The error message is that the driver is for
32-bit platform only.

Then I tried to downloaded the driver from nvidia website. I downloaded the
driver for 64-bit platform and for Geforce 8-series (158.24). However, it
still failed to install. Is it the right driver?

Peter,

Are you sure you have two Vista operating systems (one 32 bit and one 64
bit) installed? If you do, I can only repeat what I indicated on my prior
post. That is, boot to the 64 bit version and repeat the instructions
previously posted to confirm that you have a 64 bit system installed. It's
up to you to find the correct graphics driver.

I would check with Acer, I am reasonably sure this is your setup -
Your computer "supports 64bit architecture', which enables you to run 63bit
programs/applications, and you do not need to install any other drivers than
the one provided by Acer.

Hi all,

All drivers from Acer, nvidia website or the custom made one fail to install
I begin to think it is the 64 bit OS that is at fault rather than the
drivers
Anyway, I am using the standard vga driver that comes with the installation
of the OS

It serves my need so long as I dont run anything heavy.
