Most of these things happened in RC1 and RC2, but I thought they'd be fixed
by release. After installing Vista Business a couple weeks ago, I was quite
surprised to see that none of the user interface problems I had experienced
in the betas had been fixed.
1) Folders do not remember their view settings despite the option being
checked. You are likely to get a list view one time, a large icon view the
next, and a details view the time after that. Also, the detail columns that
are selected for a folder commonly disappear or change. This happened in XP
as well, but it was infrequent enough not to be a problem worth complaining
about.
2) Explorer windows often can't tell when they're being interacted with.
This is something that never happened in XP as far as I'm aware, so it's a
totally new bug. The most common time for this to happen is when right
clicking on a file in an Explorer window. Many times it will not display the
context menu for that file and will display the context menu for the folder
it is in instead.
3) When a new item is added to the desktop by software installers, etc, it
will commonly be placed in the upper right hand corner of the screen,
displacing all icons on the desktop if Auto Arrange is on. This is fairly
distracting.
Those are my main observations with annoyances so far. Here's to having
them fixed in the first service pack.
