UI Suggestion for Vista ....

After a not well received post for redesing UI, i think than i would be more
detailed (after all this is a discussion forum), some areas to improve UI
can be:

- Retracting panes like visual studio 2005 (ex. solution explorer) in
windows explorer for details pane and other optional panes.

- Preview pane not always work with videos (this is a bug i know).

- Menu is too big, can give make right menu (Document, Music) display only
icons options like "iconized" taskbar and text display like a tooltip.

- Better taskbar, Iconized TaskBar option and other ideas.

- Add flip 3d with tile view option, install switcher and you will see than
is more usefull.

- Hide automatically sidebar, and make widget more usefull.

- Logon menu need improvement, look the longhorn concept video.

- Time Line for photo gallery, transition effect between photos, look the
longhorn concept video again.

- Apply Ribbon UI for windows explorer and IE.

- Research circular menus for windows explorer, and IE context menus.

Hope we like to see something in a Power Toy or SP 1 (2) to says some WOW
and not say the same, whats the WOW ????

Mario good points... congrats on thinking creatively. Im not sure about the
ribbon toolbars though! lol I want more customization on the icons
of the toolbars.. for example I would like to have a delete icon on the
toolbar of Windows explorer like you could do with earlier versions of
windows.

I would also like a resolution independent display for windows..
That was a part of longhorn ... but they took it out for some reason.
for example you might want to zoom into a window or the whole desktop in
increments... and not only have the standard 800x600 1024x768 etc....

This would mean that the monitor would really be working on the native
resolution, however the window rendering would be in a different scale..

Perhaps some add on program will be developed from someone that will enable
this? The 3d desktop vista has should still be capable of this ....

I think that Vista should add some GUI stuff that people are requesting in
SP1.. but I doubt it will happen.

We can't act on your suggestions. This is a GENERAL forum.

By the way, on my Infiniti car, the clock on the dashboard is just a bit too
small. Sometimes I can't read the display under certain driving conditions.
Maybe an Infiniti Mucky-muck will read my concerns and take them to the
designers. Hopefully by 2009, my suggestion will be implemented.

You know of course that your post is about cars and its irrelivent to this
newsgroup?
It doesnt even fit in the vista.general context.

Anyway...here you go:
If the type is too small then you have to strain your eyes to see better in
a close distance, making your transition to focusing on far away again after
you see the clock, harder.

If someone gets in an accident because of that and sues the maker of
infinity cars and gets a few $ million, you will see the change for sure.

For computers its a more mild situation...
Thank god our lives are not dependant on Vista stability and ergonomics :)

I'm not worried about Microsoft crashing and burning. I have 10 years to go
before retirement and I'm sure Microsoft will be chugging along long after I
retire. They are too big to crash and burn in the near future. That's not
to say they need to crash and burn.

I suggest you create your own perfect UI and stop displaying such naivety.
Once you are a naiveless multi-billionaire you can thank me for the advice
with a small token donation... ;-)

Some day ... May be ...

All start with a dream ... the soul of that dream was ... windows ... until
the soulless vista ...
