A friend uploaded video from his camera on my Vista laptop. I want to save it
to send to my desktop which has Windows XP. I sent it via email but it won't
open because it states the format is not recognizable. when you save a
project there are no choices (like you get in Word and Excel where you can
change 'versions' or 'file types') Please help I can't hav all this space on
my laptop taken up by video. And I did try to burn it to a DVD but my
desktop takes DVD-r only, and it wouldn't read it at ALL. Please help. You

You can't use Movie Maker 6 (Vista) project files in Movie Maker 2.1
(XP).... save the movie to a wmv file and it'll run on XP sytems as a video
file.

Vista Movie Maker .mswmm project files
are not compatible with Win XP Movie Maker.

Try using Vista Movie Maker to Publlish (save)
the video in a movie format...(.wmv or .avi)
and then copy the movie file to your XP machine.

Windows Vista -
Publish a movie in
Windows Movie Maker

If the video uploaded to your laptop then it should exist as a file.

Do you know whatthe file size is?

Anyways, network the notbook with the PC where you want the
vide to be, share the folder on the notebook where the video is
located and then simply copy the video file from the notebook
tothe target PC.

If the file is large (>5GB) be prepared to wait. Go watch a movie
or author a small novel :)

Tip: If possible, network the PC using cable, avoid WiFi if possible.
Wifi might be slower and the copy process will take longer.

Once on the target PC, you can cretae your movie using the raw
video footage that you transferred. If you already made a MM
video project on the Vista laptop and the target PC has Win XP, then
forget about the project and redo it on the Win XP PC. If both
PCs have Vista then you can also transfer the project. Keep in mind
that you have two seperate elements: The raw video footage and the
MM project. The raw footage is never modifed and the MM project
depends on this footage to be able to build the video clip that you
created using MM.
