Vista Sucketh!

LMO

Aloha all.
I bought a new Dell XPS 410 system. Came with Vista installed. I tried it
for a few days. I found it incredibly non-intuitive (after using XP for
years). As mentioned before...no easy way to go back up a level in
directories, lack of common commands, hidden controls, the stupid User
Controls, etc.
I wiped the drive and installed XP.
However, I'm considering buying another drive, installing it, and
reinstalling the OS (Vista) and system that came with the system originally,
just to give it another try.
Should I?
Can I use a dual-boot system, or will I have to replace the current hard
drive? Can I get the Vista drive to boot from and external drive housing?
Thanks all!

Yes you can dual boot Vista, how ever, each time you boot to XP it will
delete your Vista restore points and other backup stuff unless you use a
third party boot manager.

If your external enclosure is one of those that connects to the internal
SATA bus then you would be able to boot from that "external" drive (this is,
as for as the OS is concerned, an internal drive), if it connects via USB or
firewire then ASFAIK you will not be able to boot from that external drive.

Dual boot is the only way to install Vista.
When you feel like fiddling with the OS and getting nothing accomplished you
can boot to Vista.
When you need to actually accomplish something, be it actual work, play a
game, whatever you can boot to XP.
The bit about Vista deleting restore points when you boot to XP is testament
to the lunatic incompetence of Microsoft programmers and marketers. These
are probably the people advising Attorney General Gonzalez.

Vista doesn't delete the restore points, XP deletes the Vista restore points
when you boot XP

It's all there. And some of the stuff you could have put into classic view,
XP and Win 2K, if need be.
I wiped the drive and installed XP.

Why not? I have used XP for many years. It took a couple of weeks to get use
to look and feel of Vista.

And besides, Vista is more than just about the user experience.

Sure why not? You know that you broke the software warrantee with the
computer manufacture when you changed that O/S. So don't call them for
anything concerning support based on the O/S you are now using.

You can also use this solution as well.

You should try to install Vista compliant software.

HA! Pretty funny! Post with a subject of "Vista Sucketh!" and then ask how
best to reinstall Vista. Gee... don't hold your breath waiting for a
response from me.

If Vista sucks, you need to take a Windows 98 CD, put it in the system,
reboot, format your PC and you'll be computing in half an hour.

No you have it wrong. You are an IDIOT. Maybe you should put your
computer in sleep mode so you won't be bothering people here.

Perhaps you should put your head into vegitable mode,
since it will be working harder than it is now!

GET LOST LOSER!

I bought a new house in a new town.
I lived there for a few days.
I found it incredibly non-intuitive to find a grocery store.
My old house and town were so familiar.
I found this new town so stupid, it had none of the familiar landmarks.
All my left hand turns are different.
The stupid new buildings.

I moved back to my old town

However, I'm considering buying another house in that new town and moving
there as well.

Should I?

Oh brother :)
