Vista SP1 does not stop INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR Blue Screen

D

Dan

I have repeatedly gotten the blue screen described in
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942524: "Stop error message when you put a
Windows Vista-based computer in hibernation: "STOP: 0x000000A0 (0x00000009,
0xc0000001, 0x00000001, 0x00000000) INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)"

The article says that this is fixed in Vista SP1. I have Home Premium SP1.
What do I need to do to fix this problem?

Nuke Vista and install Ubuntu which, unlike XP, will have the hardware
drivers.

Check it out at http://www.ubuntu.com/

Yeah, stay staring at the BSOD of Vista is a much better idea. When are
you going to get a clue?

BTW, that bug was eliminated months ago, please try to keep up.

That page list hundreds of bugs !
Most of them "not fixed".

Please try not to tell such blatant lies !

I have installed Ubuntu on dozens and dozens of laptops and desktops and
didn't encounter one single bug. Proof is in the pudding not on some web
site.

You can go back to staring at your BSOD now and think you're doing some
in depth computing.

Try reading my message, and quit leaving ignorant replies. It says it's
fixed in SP1, but I've *got* SP1.

I understood why you think Vista is crap and I agree with you.

I've never seen a BSOD on Vista ... have in ubuntu(no blue screen, just
total freeze/requiring hard shut-down).
Pudding Proof.

Alias--I am *deeply* impressed with your brilliance. Your insecurity
shimmers with every word you write.

Do you have the latest Windows Vista drivers installed for
your video adapter? Have you run a Check Disk?

I did run check disk. It didn't show any problems.

I just went to Windows update and found the following "optional" updates:

ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ASUS EAH3870 Series
Creative - Audio - Creative X-Fi Audio Processor (WDM)
Dell Inc. - Display - Dell E248WFP(Analog)
Microsoft driver update for Microsoft Windows SideShow Development Hardware

Do those sound like likely culprits?

Except for the ATI update, download and install all those Windows Updates.
Restart your computer, then visit:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.HTML and download
and install the latest ATI drivers. Restart your computer
and set your correct monitor screen resolution and I
bet your issue will be solved.

Regrettably, I installed them all. Hopefully that won't cause a problem.

Also--when I go to the ATI site, is there an easy way to figure out what
drivers I need to update?

Thanks very much for your help.

The OP (remember him?) has the problem.
I've never seen a BSOD on Vista ...

Try changing your video card. Or if you prefer to talk to MS' help desk,
add RAM and a new NIC while you're at it.

Um, it's proof is in the pudding, dolt, and, sorry, none of the Ubuntu
installs I have done have had that problem.

Care to address the issues or can you only trot out your ill informed

It will. You should never, ever, get hardware drivers from Windows
updates. You should *always* get them from the hardware manufacturer's
web site.
Also--when I go to the ATI site, is there an easy way to figure out what

Have you figured out what ATI card you have? Do you know where to look
to see what date your drivers were created?
Thanks very much for your help.

Trust me, Carey and help is an oxymoron.
