Vista Security Center shows UNINSTALLED apps

This is easy for anyone to repro.

1. Install a security app like Windows Live OneCare or CA eTrust Antivirus.
2. Uninstall the app.
3. Check Vista Security Center. The uninstalled app is still listed under
"Firewall programs installed on this computer" or one of the similar lists.

Yep. I've noticed that too. Not sure why that is the case. I submitted a bug
on it but it was not fixed (obviously).

yes I've had the same issue with AVG anti-virus that still showed up in
the Security Center after I uninstalled it. But that was under XP.

I've got the same problem with an uninstall of SpySweeper.
Security Center shows that it is still installed, but even worse it shows
that SpySweeper is actually running.
This could provide a false sense of security to other users of the computer
not aware of the bug. Could it also be something a hacker could exploit?

I had put a ticket in with WebRoot who sent me a clean up program. It cleaned
up the "SpySweeper" running indication in Windows Security Center. Looks like
it was WebRoot SpySweeper not uninstalling correctly.

I also had this problem with the Mcafee package that came installed on a new
Dell box. Removed it (or thought I did), installed Windoze OneCare. Looked at
Security Center and it said both McAfee and OneCare firewalls and AVs were
reporting being turned on. Went to Mcafee site and found a download utility
that is supposed to remove ALL Mcafee products found on a box. Ran it. Still
showed up as turned on. Uninstalled OneCare. Ran Mcafee utility again. Still
showed up. Searched for any files/folders with *mcafee* - none found.
Searched for and edited out any keys in the registry with mcafee in them -
did find a few. Still shows up as turned on. Anyone found a way around this
or gotten a response from MS?
