I installed and uninstalled Vista RC1 - missed RC2 while on vacation. I
followed the directions to remove the dual boot stuff and manually deleted
the files left behind in the C: root directory. However, there is this @#$%
Boot folder that XP will not let me delete. I have seen it mentioned in
various Googled sites but I have not been able to make it go away. I always
get the "Cannot Delete (folder name, or file name) Access is denied." The
Boot folder only contains a few sub folders and files and does not take up
much space but I sure would like to know how to make it go away - short of
reformatting the partition! I would appreciate some input. The system is
running WinXP SP2 with all the latest fixes and updates. Thanks in advance.

Once you are certain that the MBR is loading the XP boot loader take
ownership of the Vista Boot folder and containing objects and grant
yourself full permissions on them, will then be able to delete the folder.

Ok. I must be slow. I'm sure that I'm booting XP and all the dual boot
Vista stuff is gone. I'm also sure you are correct but.... how do I get
ownership? I'm logged on to XP with administrator rights but I can't figure
out how to "get full permissions". I've even created a BartPE CD and I get
the same message when trying to delete the folder after booting from the CD.
Can you give me or point me to a link "how to" page?!

Success! Thanks everyone for the information. It was the WinXP "simple
file sharing" that was causing me all the problems trying to take ownership.
