Vista RC-1 Download help?

I know this is a stupid question, but I tried to download the Vista RC-1
tonight on my Windows xp partition using the download manager, but the file
downloads a 907 kb file. I tried to download the browser version through IE 7
Beta 3. It said the x86 version was like 2.5 GB so I tried to download it. 3
Hours later it was frozen. 0% download progress. The system wasn't frozen
though, neighter was IE. I just had to close the download box. If you need
additional details, please reply. I'm sure either Mircosoft's servers are
just very busy, at 1:00 am  or the website is experincing tech diffculties.

Hi,
Real Quick here.
Do yourself a favor;skip the AKAMI dload manager.
Grab one off the net. I've never had problems; this one works great;it's
free also.
www.freedownloadmanager.org

Install it.

Now; go back to the RC1 download page;but don't click on the links on
the left side; look on the right side;you'll see the exact same links under
a heading of;use your own browser/dload manager.
Click on the appropriate one; BINGO FDM will grab it;make a folder ya
can
find;and won't disappear.
If ya need quicker help; chk out the vista chat room;

Usually someone in there that can help-in more "real-time"

I agree 100% with Jeff's reply about using different download manager.

My experience:
PC 1 - XP Media center 2005
1) Download manager from download site - completely useless
2) Download via browser - only 2,059,15x, not the 2.5xx gb - twice

PC 2 XP Home
exactly same as above

PC 3 Vista beta 2
1) Download manager from download site, would run on this pc and give a 907
kb file.
2) Download via browser - same 2,059,15x download, not 2.5xx gb.

Based on being able to download via the browser on 3 different machines, but
got incorrect size file, that was the same size each time, I began to suspect
my DSL provider (SBC) had a limit on the download size. Did same as Jeff,
found a free dl mgr with google (I used DAP - sorry do not have link
available). Ran it one time and VIOLA! - I had my copy of RC1.

Conclusions:
1) Microsoft needs to work with the provider of the download manager it
provides to get it to work more reliable.
2) If SBC does have a download limit to prevent large downloads. - Seems
less than smart to do this. Most users are not aware of this limit and will
retry at least one more time. In my case, five times at 2gb each = 10 gb
total + the finally 2.5 gb download for a total bandwidth use of 12.5 gb so
was bandwidth use reduced? If there was no limit - would have used 2.5 gb not
the final 12.5 gb.

I was finally able to download RC1 (> 2.5GB) when I saved it to a partition
with at least 6 GB free - I'd suggest defragging first and making sure you
have lots of contiguous free space

Thanks! I tried it before I got the message with Vista Beta 2, and Firefox.
(I will always stick with Microsoft's IE because I am a proud fan, but IE
always freezes on Vista for some reason) I had been downloading it all day
Sunday while I was working on Homework. Then at 99%, let me repeat that, 99%,
1.5 MB left to download, and the freaking power goes out!! I was so mad! I
had to download it from the beginning. This time I used the program you said,
and it works great. I wonder why Microsoft doesn't include this in IE 7? Oh
well!
