Vista printer shared on XP

This may have more to do with Vista than XP but we'll see.
I have an HP Office Jet printer attached via USB to my Vista Home
Premium machine. It is shared on my network as "OfficeJet". My
other machines (Linux and 2 Vista laptops) have no problem accessing
the printer. However, when I try to add the printer to XP Professional
using the *correct* IP address, it tells me that it cannot find it.
Browsing for it via the network does not work either. Is there
any outstanding issues with XP trying to talk to Vista shared printers?
Would it be a better idea to make the printer wireless and mount it
that way?

Yes, there can be. Vista can take some time to discover or reveal shared
resources. Be sure that you have accounts, permissions, and firewalls set
properly.

If you can attach a printer you intend to share to the network directly,
rather than to a single system, that's almost always a better idea, as it
takes load off the host system and doesn't require that it always be on.
