vista print spooler and page count errors.

Hi all, we have an HP officeJet Pro L7650 all in one. with an odd problem.
when you go to print a document or what ever; the print spooler takes over
as naturally it should, but that is where the problem lies;
when it is told 1 page it lists and tries to print 3 pages. 3/1.
when told to print 5 pages it will count up to as much as 75/5 and as high
as 176 pages. on our first print loaded the tray full (250 sheets) and told
it to print 25 sheets. it printed the full tray and then said paper was out.
and HP has no Idea what to do. after a few days and many hours and chat
sessions with the HP techs, I was told to contact microsoft and tell them it
is the print spooler. and since it has been well over 90 days microsoft wont
even let you talk to a tech with out a 59.00 price tag. not good. especially
on a first incident. and this vista is turning out to be a headache to deal
with. they made it sooo user friendly you almost cant use it normally. it
tries and blocks 1/2 of what you need to do. even docs and settings is not
accessible for some reason. were stuck, we bought this 300.00 printer and
cant even use its full potential. this sucks. and not only that i do not
even have the option to download the sp1 for vista. i tried and downloaded
the full version 2x. and for the life of me i cannot find them . i even made
a new folder and pointed the download to that folder and when the download
was finished it was not there. and the download box closes even when i
unchecked the box to close when finished downloaded. very frustrating. I even
directed it to download to an external drive and it did not put it there. now
the search is on. and speaking of search that search window is almost
useless. i end up using the run box to operate commands search for stuff.

The HP Printing Diagnostic Utility was created to diagnose and fix many
common issues preventing printing from the computer:

try one of the HP OfficeJet drivers that is included in Vista. If you can
print a legible test page attempt the multiple page document printing using
this driver.

Run Add Printer , Local Printer, Select the same port as the other device,
compatible driver, ... Finish
