Vista Networking w/Apple Laserwriter

I'm trying to add an Apple Laserwriter 16/600 PS as a network printer to my
PC running Vista. I am able to use it from my PC running XP Pro, but not the
one running Vista. Here's what I did to add it to an XP PC, but it doesn't
work in Vista.

1. Add printer
2. Local Printer
3. Create a new port...LPR
3. IP number: 1.192.168.1.111
4. Port name: raw (Necessary for Apple LaserWriter)
5. Chose manufacturer and printer model from list
6. Continue with install

I can complete steps 1-4 in Vista, but for step 5, Apple is not listed as a
manufacturer. I therefore can't complete the install. Microsoft and Apple
have not been helpfull, so far.

Can someone please help! The LaserWriter is a great printer and I want to
keep using it.

Are there Vista drivers for the printer? If not, you can try installing
the ones for XP, but it is unlikely to work. You need to install Vista
drivers for the printer. That is why you can't complete Step 5.

I haven't been able to find any Vista drivers, yet. Neither Microsoft nor
Apple have any on their sites.

Then I'm very sorry but the printer won't work in Vista. Apple is the
supplier for the printer drivers and if they aren't going to write any
for Vista, you're out of luck.

Same problem, Apple Laserwriter II NT, no Vista 64bit drivers,
and Apple aren't likely to write them for ancient printers, even
if they are still giving supberb printout.
BUT Vista has support for HP and other printers, just
work through them until you find one that works.
I settled for HP LaserJet IIIP Postscript Cartridge
v52.2
But as Vista is such crap, USB wireless adapter no
Azerus drivers, burners with Silchip I think it's called
not seen as burners, Nero a bit of a disaster, lots
of programs fine under XP wont't install, so I'm
ditching Vista. Can't afford the time trying to sort out
it's problems.
Seems we are all paing to be Beta testers, when
will it go to final release?

I'm able to use my LaserWriter in Vista by assigning it as a local printer to
a PC on my network running XP. Not the greatest solution, but it works.

As for Vista, it seems to run all my applications just fine. My main apps
are Microsoft Office and Adobe CS3, and they all work fine
