Vista/MSWord2007 - Auto Update Problem

R

Hi,

I am hoping that this is a known problem, but I cant find the answer
anywhere - hence this post!

I have a fairly new Vista PC and genuine MSOffice 2007 application suite.
ive also got automatic updates switched on.

A few days ago my system was updated at 3am and auto-rebooted. Since then I
have experienced problems with MSWord 2007 whereby it:
a) keeps freezing/rebooting itself
b) the mouse doesnt work in the text area, only in the control buttons area

Has anyone experienced similar problems, and is there a fix?

I am loathe to pay for MS support as I am convinced that it was the auto
update download that has caused this problem.

Any suggestions would be grately appreciated.

Thanks
Rosie

Until you can resolve the problem you might find it useful to try
OpenOffice.org. It's a pretty complete ms Office work alike, but not
totally compatible - at least it won't cost anything to find out if it
would work for you until you can resolve the issue.

p.s. let the flames commence!

Rosie, before you do anything run:

start/all programs/Microsoft office/Microsoft office tools/Microsoft
office diagnostics

It may very quickly fix whatever Office problem you're experiencing.

This problem is a big deal. There is an interaction with Google
Desktop and/or with Google Adds installed by Adobe. The problem only
affects MS Word not the other programs. Yes there does seem to be a
download this week that caused the problem, but it has happened
before.

Here is a MS site link.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940791

Uninstall any Google add-ins you have. Then repair prgram from the
original MS DVD.

You may want to buy an incidnt supprot form your computer manufacturer
or MS.
