Vista Mail Password Prompt when switching users

My wife and I have different email ids with the same ISP and I have setup a
shared Store Folder that we both use. Vista Mail is setup in each of our
Accounts so that when I "send and receive" I get her emails as well as mine.
The same happens from her own User Account.

The problem that we now have, which did not occur on Windows XP and Outlook,
is that whenever we "Switch User" and start up Mail we are prompted by
Windows Security to enter the User Name and Password for each email account
even though "Remember my credentials" is checked.

I have tried all of the "fixes" I can find including deleting
c:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft/Protect and not using the
"Apply" button when creating the Mail Accounts (See "Microsoft mail does not
retain username and password" in this Newsgroup).

Does anyone know how I can stop this happening

I have the same problem. I have two vista accounts, my wife and I, but we
use the same email address. If I set mail up so that we share the same mail
store (e.g. in the public folders), whenever we send / receive we have to
enter user name and password for each email account despite the "remember"
box being ticked. Strangely, if it is set up to have separate messgae stores
this does not happen. However, that's no good as the messages will be split
between message stores depending on which one of us accesed them. Surely
there must be away around thius. I set up Outlook Express exaclty the same
way without any problems in Xp Home. I've tried upgraded to Mail Live but it
is still the same.

Help!?

To get separate message stores to work well:

Click on Tools, then Accounts, then your email account, then Properties,
then Advanced. If there is no check mark in the box before Leave a copy
of messages on server, click on this box and then Apply. It's also a good
idea to select one of the options for eventually deleting the messages from
the server, to keep it from getting so many of your messages it refuses to
accept more, and then click Apply again. Click on OK, then Close.

Do the same on the other computer if it also runs Windows Mail, or the
equivalent if it runs some other email program. Then each of you should
get copies of all incoming mail, unless you are using one of the few email
providers that ignore requests to save a copy of messages on their server.

If you share the same message store, the password will not be
remembered. The password encryption mechanism uses the
user_name as part of the encryption key.
As Robert already advised you, the solution is to have separate
message stores, and have both users' email accounts configured
to leave a copy of messages on the server.

Thank you so much Robert. This is exactly it. I;ve been trying to sort this
out for days and have googled and googled and seemed to find other people
with the same issue but no solution. Thanks again.
