Sorry, I wasn't specific. I meant in regards to this thread in general
not just your post. The complaint of the RUN command not being present
on the start menu by default comes up a lot.

since I don't have the Vista machine in front of me, how to you "get Run
back"? right click on the taskbar?

Right-click the Start Menu and select Properties. Then click the customize
button and look for the Run Command checkbox. Select it then click Ok and
click Ok again.

OK, I gave in and added it myself: but it doesn't work they way I've been
using it since Windows98: When you open the start menu (by Ctrl+Esc),
pressing "R" does not launch the Run command.

Boo, hiss!

Wow. I might have to try this. Looks like he's packed in everything a power
user would need.

Yes, the keyboard shortcut is not the same. However there is more then one
set. What about WinKey+R

You can do that and NOT have the run command on your startmenu!

Bummer. I think I saw a keyboard this last weekend that was $12. Maybe an
updated keyboard would help? Or do you have a laptop?

Then just press Ctrl+Esc to open the start menu, then type the command you'd
normally type into the Run box and press enter. (the text thing at the
bottom of the start menu IS a run box).

The original gripe was that the "new" run box doesn't maintain a history and
that's what some people want.

My problem is I have to support many workstations so I need to learn to do
things without 3rd party software. Home users should try it, though, as it
looks good.
