Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard problem with Vista

I have a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard elite, and mouse. Worked fine on my
windows XP computer.

When I strike a key after the keyboard isn't used for a while, both the
keyboard AND the mouse go offline for about 30 seconds. Both the mouse and
keyboard recover at the same time. Interesting that the mouse works fine
until a key on the keyboard is pressed.

This is a Dell Inspiron laptop, Windows Vista, internal bluetooth card.

Anyone have a similar experience?

I am running Vista Home Premium on a new intel Core Duo 2 Mac Book Pro using
Boot Camp. Everything is running well with the exception of bluetooth. I
use an Apple wireless mighty mouse (which uses bluetooth). I can get the
device to connect OK but as soon as I restart Vista I have to reconnect the
mouse by removing it and adding it again. It seems that Vista doesn't
remember the passkey on the mouse. This is a minor annoyance but one I hope
that is fixed soon. At this point I don't know if the problem rests with
Apple drivers or with flakiness in Vista's bluetooth capabilities - or maybe
both. Other than this, Vista works just fine on my Mac.

Hello SC & viewers,

if you are looking at this post, that means that you got a problem with your
bluetooth keyboard elite too.
i can relate to SC since this issue is occurring on my dell inspiron 6000
laptop. i am not totally a newbie pertaining computer issues, but this is
beyond me.
everything works beautifully in XP media center edition 2005, but when i
select vista ultimate in this dual boot laptop, none of the special keys
work. instead of using the toshiba bluetooth device included in this laptop,
i have been using the dongle, to make it work in both operating system
environment.
i am hoping that i could get some help in resolving either one or both issues.

this bluetooth problem is just getting worst while i try different methods on
my own to resolve this issue. now, vista does not see the BT devices at all.
even when both BT icon appears on the buttom right hand corner after boot up.
tried both methods, with the internal toshiba bluetooth radio on & then off,
on this dell inspiron 6000 laptop, with no difference. the dongle does not
work in vista either. and when i reboot & choose XP Media Center 2005, in the
dual boot menu, these BT devices works like it should, with the dongle..
vista has got to be incompatible wth this microsoft bluetooth elite keyboard
& optical mouse.
i have been posting here, calling microsoft technical support repeatedly, &
paying $49.00/call & still no resolution. had i save those $49.00/per
incident payments, i would already have fully paid for a new logitech
wireless keyboard & mouse.
