Hi all,

I have very strange problem. I turn on my computer as usual and wait
more than half an hour to start Vista in safe mode. I can't imagine
how long I have to wait for normal mode. Everything works extremly
slow in safe mode. I don't know why:/ I use Vista Bussines and it is
first time when I have this problem. It looks that everything works
properly but as slow as never. I don't want to reinstall the system
cuz I have important data on it. Maybe It is hardware faoult... but I
don't think so cuz system wouldn't work anyway. Help me!!

I did system restore but the problem still exists. I wanted to
reinstall system but booting from CD is also very slow. So probably it
isn't systems failure. Dzomlija what do you mean by hardware
specifications? Could you explain step by step what should I do??

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Has your computer been slow since you installed vista or has this
problem just come to light.

It has apeared today... I used Vista about one year. I know it works
not so fast... but waiting almost one hour 'enter password menu' is to
long I think:p I can't even check for malware software cuz I'm not so
patient:p I think that my computer was well protected against such
programms. I used avast antivir and I regular update Vista and Avast.
Probably I will have to format harddisk... and lost my data:/ but I
don't have guarantee thet it will help:/

A lot of things have "Drivers", what they are depends on your
motherboard, the chip set used in it and anything external to the
motherboard such as video and sound cards. It is critical that usable
drivers are installed, and it is possible that during the night Windows
Update installed something that is not suitable or became broken while
installing.

Your motherboard and device manufacturer's may have drivers on their
website, it is becoming more popular for them also to have a utility
that chooses the right drivers for you.

You may be able to find something that will fix your problem without
reinstalling. If it's a recent machine and you got a CD with it that has
drivers on it you could try those, they should at least work with the
motherboard.

It is usually recommended that you stop Antivirus and other security
programs before installing drivers so see what you can find, make a plan
and if you are nit sure about anything ask again.

Have you checked the fans?
Intel CPUs run very slowly if they overheat.
Amd just stop.

Your Vista box is doing what it does best. It's been hijacked by some
spambots and they have to do their jobs of polluting the Net before they'll
let you actually try and use your computer to play M$ Minesweeper.

Cheers.

You're probably like a kid who pulls something out of his nose and then sits
there grinning with a sense of accomplishment. Sorry to poke fun at you
Frankie Boy. Usually I feel sorry for people with brain injuries like you
have. But in your case, I can't help but laugh at you. Do keep up with your
meds and don't remove that cork from the end of your fork. We wouldn't want
you to hurt yourself further.

Cheers.

This sounds like a hardware problem. You need enough memory/ram and fast
processor to reap the benefits of vista fully. I know it will run with as
little as 256mb and under 1ghz processor, but I would not advise such a
thing. Recommended by me: 1.8ghz or better, 1gb or more, good graphics
card with 256mb or more. :)

I had the same problem with my Dell. after spending hours on the phone, to
India of course,(though I did get them to phone me on my mobile eventually),
after having the tower returned to Dell for a new Hard Drive and no
improvement I decided to do some more investigation myself and realised that
it was my Lexmark x3470 printer which was causing the problem. If I don't
connect it to the computer at the Start there are no problems and when I then
later need to print I then connect it with no problems. Just remember to
unplug it before Shut Down or it will delay that too.I passed this message to
the Dell technician who I had got quite friendly with and he told his
supervisor who then e-mailed the solution to all Dell techbicians. Not bad
for a 60 year old grandma!

If it's still happening to you and you have not got this printer check any
other equipment you have got attached to your computer.
