Very Slow Printing -

J

I have an HP laserJet Printer 8000, Connected to a new Vista Computer. The
printer uses parallel connection then a cable to convert the parallel to USB
(which uses a driver).
This printer used to work, with XP and older computer that used the
parallel port, very fast.
Once I started using Vista with that cable in between the printer and the
compter, printing is very SLOW.
I disabled all the firewall but the printer is still slow.
It was a shared printer, I made it local but no luck.

Is there a setting for the firewall on the port or on the printer that I
need to disable?
Is this related to the connecting cable in between?
Any suggestion is is a production system please help...

yes. You must a new driver your print to windows vista. Contact HP site and
search your new driver.
Your old driver to windows XP no working very well on the windows vista.
I had same problem. I changed the driver.

Once it actually starts printing, does it print at normal speeds?
I have seen settings in Print Properties that will make the entire job spool
before it starts. That can slow it down.
Check your settings.
