I'm trying to install Vista Home Premium on a Windows XP Pro machine
and after going through the initial set up process when the install
gets to the first reboot it hangs. When I restart the machine it just
goes to the install process again but gives an error screen and
reboots right away. I think the install messed up a few things
because when I choose the option to boot to an older version of
windows and go back to xp when I try and put in a CD or DVD in my
drive it won't read, and the entire system will hang. I've searched
online and I can only find people with the same problem and not many
solutions.
Specs:
Asus A8N-E MoBo
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+
2GB Ram
WD 80gb (primary)
WD 74gb
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S
Nvidia GeForce 7900 GT
