Vista Home premium edition

I am attempting to install windows vista home premium upgrade edition
(32bit). My specs are Intel 4 processor,(2mb L2 cache 3.60ghz, 800mhz fsb)
1024 mb ram, 500gb (7200rpm)
SATA hard drive(2.250gb)

Everything seems to go fine until the final reboot, when instead of
launching to the desktop i get the blue screen of death.
The following code: "0x00000050 (0xF983 BDE3
0x00000000,0x82010F43,0x00000002) Page fault in non paged area."

The only thing I haven't tried is attempting a full install instead of an
upgrade.

I am getting desperate, can anyone please help or offer advice?

That error is often RAM related. Run the RAM diagnostics on the Vista DVD or
use memtest86+. It is quite common for RAM errors to show up when loading a
different OS as the new OS may use different memory locations than the old
one. Vista exacerbates this problem by loading into random locations as a
security precaution (ASLR). Because of this Vista is very unforgiving of
marginal RAM. If the ram tests still pass after several hours of testing
then it's time to start troubleshooting drivers.

I would do the full install as the upgrade install means it is trying to
use your XP video drivers which may be causeing the BSOD. You have Nvidia
video card maybe?

Try uninstalling all sound (especially onboard sound drivers) and look to the
manufacturures like realtek etc. for a Vista driver and turn off automatic
updates during installation as this seems to be the bigest source of the
problem at present.
