Vista Hard Disk Usage

E

EAJSewell

I have a recent laptop with 120gb hard disk running Vista business
which reports (on My Computer) that I only have 9gb of hard disk space
left. I checked the usage with HDGraph (http://hdgraph.objectis.net/ :
recommended!). This shows all my files are consuming 48gb of hard
disk.

I have cut the shadow file setting to 2gb. Can anyone suggest where
the other 50gb may have gone and how I can get it back. You would be
a life saver.

None of your expert Vista Virus help for the OP? I'm sure a professional
Vista Virus user like you can provide the solution in a New York second.
Don't you have any compassion for the OP, Frank, or can you, once again,
only lie, insult and bluster?

Here's the OP's post you thought so insignificant that you nuked it
completely:

Don't worry about it. If you need the space, it will magically appear.

Vista disk space is like RAM, if it's available, it will be used. Then
released when needed. Temp files, restore points, recycle bin, paging file,
all are somewhat dynamic. If the space is available, Vista will use it. What
had you rather have: 12 restore points and 5 Gig available or 1 restore
points and 30 Gig available?

HeyBub
Thanks for answer, helpful.
I won't ask why vista sends the disk space gauge red
and says I don't have enough room to load more programs!
.... and carry on

Vista will install and run on a 20GB partition (even Ultimate). Anyone with
any computer sense store their personal files on a seperate partition.
