I have Vista Ultimate X64 and am having problems never encountered with XP
that
is really frustrating due to Microsoft's too strict Security measures..
For example, I have a .pot image that I want to install in the templates
folder of
PowerPoint but that folder is READ ONLY and won't allow me to install that
image file.
I've gone through several forums and attempted to change the read only
format
but for some reason it doesn't work. Here are the instructions I've used..
What
am I doing wrong?
1) Right Click on the file or Application
2.) Then click on security - click on advanced - click on Owner (Select your
login a/c)
-then click ok - after that you will again see "advanced tab- click it and
selet the permission
-then click on add -Enter "users "in the object name - click ok -now apply -
and Now you
can uncheck or check "Read-Only".
I followed the above instructions and the folder remains Read Only.. ?????

Another problem is trying to find a method to access the Temporary Internet
Folder contents.
This is something we were able to do with XP but we are being blocked out by
MS
Security -- I used to open TIF and expunge certain cookies that popped up
once in a while.
I also used that folder to copy a sound file that was embedded in a website.
Is there any way to counter MS measures and access this folder to expose the
content?

Trying to access a website using Internet Explorer, I oftentimes get
"Internet Explorer
cannot access that webpage" and a window pops up asking me to report the
error..
I then open Firefox (which I seldom use); enter the same URL and it opens..
???

The constant process of 'asking permissions' and accepting all the prompts
that come
up is really frustrating.
I really think Microsoft has overdone this 'Security' protection and has
made Vista
very difficult at times when it really isn't necessary.. I doubt it but I
hope they eliminate
some of these annoying changes they've made on an otherwise good OS..
