I have been on vista for 2weeks since then unable to send e-mails out using
windows mail or microsoft outlook however can send using virginmedia web
site. When mail comes in it goes into windows mail and virginmedia system
once read in virgin it disappears so have to read in windows mail. But
would like to beable to send/receive in windows mail only. Help line waste
of time! Just say have all settings set correctly and its because of new
system anyone any ideas? Would be very grateful

Try this:

1. Go to the Vista start menu and type cmd
2. The search results will display a program titled cmd
3. Right-click on the link and select "Run as administrator"
4. type "netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled" without
the quotatioin marks
5. Test your POP account and see if you can now download your mail.
6. If nothing changes, reenable the autotuning feature by typing
"netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=normal"

I have the exact same problem , (Mail will not send, recieves just
fine)Steve's cmd under administrator had no effect .
No error messages, My dialup ISP re-configured E-Mail settings and it all
checks out. My other pc's are fine IMHO it's the "New Windows Mail" .
Please suggest a Vista compatible E-Mail Program, until Microsoft is
finished developing this software that their own "Tech" folks have No Known
Protocol, to be considered helpful. Used a lot of minutes ,with HP and Ya'll.
Thanks ; )

Also make sure you don't have antivirus software set to scan email. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 If you do, then turn it off and then remove
the mail account close and reopen WinMail and then add it back again. See
if that fixes it.

If you get any error messages when trying to send mail, show us the full

Also, you may find newsgroup microsoft.public.nl.windows.vista

What is the complete error message? Those codes all mean something to many
of us.
