vista dvd decoder

Folks

I purchased my computer with Vista Business because I assumed it would be
better than home edition. However, I note that the Media play doesn't have a
DVD decoder and I cannot run DVD in media player as I could with XP. Have
googled etc and downloaded a number of decoders but all I wish to find is
one that makes Mediaplayer play DVD! Any suggestions.

ps would be happy to upgrade to top of line Vista but get a message from
Microsoft that online upgrade not available in our area. No retail version
of upgrade from Business that I have seen in shops.
