Vista doesn't recognize my mouse

I have a new Vista computer. At first bootup, I used a USB marble mouse.
Vista thinks this mouse is the standard optical unit that came with the
system.

When I try to switch to the standard mouse, it is not recognized.

How to rectify?

Ensure you have the latest drivers that are Vista compatible, check
manufacturers website for Vsta drivers
