Hmm vista home premium on a HP G5000 laptop

Control panel when opened brings up browser window stays on desktop for about 5 - 8 seconds blank then just closes. No icons appear at all in window

the only way i can access control panel now is via explorer

any ideas peeps?

dont reall want to do a system restore yet

No idea here, I'm guessing you've done the usual AV, and Anti-Spyware scans?

I'd try rolling back to when you know it was working if you can, it won't remove any documents and is easy to reverse

I did stop some stuff from running upon startup however im not that familiar with Vista so maybe stopped something that was used in conjunction with something else. It happened literally after a reboot! Even renewing the Control panel shortcut does not make a difference
